CHARITY SECTOR FUNDRAISER
Bower Reuse and Repair Centre is currently seeking a voluntary board member to join its board for a term of two years.
The Bower is an environmental charity registered as a Cooperative in NSW. Our mission is to pioneer programs to reduce the amount of waste entering landfill by reclaiming household items and building materials for reuse, repair, and resale at affordable prices.
We offer a series of workshops and courses to the public, ranging from basic carpentry to building tiny houses. We operate from multiple centres located in Marrickville, Zetland (electronics workshop), Parramatta, and Redfern (woodwork workshop).
The Bower has initiated programs to work alongside frontline service organisations in support of refugees; survivors of domestic and family violence; and homelessness. Through these programs The Bower helps to help meet the needs of these families and individuals as they transition into permanent housing.
The Bower is also at the forefront of waste minimisation and the Right to Repair movements in Australia. Through our Repair Café programs we offer practical solutions to help address these growing social and environmental problems.
If you would like to contribute to our organisation by joining our board, please contact the board search committee by email. The Board meets 8-10 times per year usually online or at one of The Bower’s venues during the evening.
Board members are required to keep abreast of developments with The Bower and read documentation and correspondence in between meetings. Board members may also be requested to join Board sub-committees.
We are specifically seeking someone with not-for-profit/ charity sector fundraising experience to add your skills to our organisation’s dynamic board.
